Swedish Judge Releases A$AP Rocky Before Sentencing -- Now, He's Back In The U.S. For Good!

ASAP Rocky released from prison

A$AP Rocky is NEVER going back to Sweden! Can ya blame him?!

The rapper was released from jail late Friday afternoon, granted a reprieve from prison and allowed to travel home to the United States while judges in his assault case figure out their decision on his guilt or innocence. And travel is exactly what he did; the rapper is already back home in the States, and it sounds like he’s NEVER going back to the Scandinavian country!

Per TMZ, the verdict in Rocky’s assault case is now set to come down as a written ruling, and is expected to be delivered by August 14th. But here’s the interesting part: the fact that a judge released him from prison already — and allowed the rapper to travel back to the States — strongly suggests the verdict set to come down on the 14th may very well be ‘not guilty.’

There’s no guarantee on this until it’s handed down, of course, but prosecutors had been very aggressive in trying to keep the American rapper in prison in Sweden. They argued for weeks how he was a flight risk, and he wouldn’t return to Stockholm to face the consequences if he was allowed to leave the country. Well, guess what? Now he’s left the country — sources say for good, too — and it’s all because a Swedish judge looked at all the evidence from this week’s trial and apparently deemed it the right thing to do. That’s a pretty strong sign A$AP may well wriggle himself out of this one.

Sources are telling the outlet that Rocky (quite understandably) harbors some ill will towards the Scandinavian country — or, at least, its prosecutors and criminal justice system — and he has NO plans to ever return there no matter how the verdict may come down. Very understandable!

Both Snoop Dogg and Quavo have also had notably bad experiences with the criminal justice system in Sweden in the past, as well, so it’s not just A$AP, either! And while TMZ notes the rapper has never publicly hinted about his incarceration being racially motivated or anything like that, those in his circle wonder if that isn’t exactly what happened. That’s VERY interesting, because Sweden is typically thought of as one of the most progressive and forward-thinking countries in the world… but maybe not so much here??

Either way, the newfound freedom is clearly a VERY big deal for the rapper himself (below):

Wow!!!

Furthermore, according to NBC News, U.S. Ambassador to Sweden Robert O’Brien warned of “potentially negative consequences to the U.S.-Swedish bilateral relationship” in a formal letter to the Scandinavian country’s authorities, reportedly dated July 31 and sent in the days leading up to the rapper’s release. Hmmm…

So, yeah, August 14th is the big date for the written verdict in this case. But regardless of how it comes down, don’t expect A$AP to make his way back to the Scandinavian country any time soon. Judging by what we’re hearing here, this is probably the right move to make! And after watching how this whole thing played out for the rapper… we’d probably do the exact same thing!!!
