Prime Minister Julia Gillard got a bit more than she bargained for at an awards ceremony in Canberra January 26th.
Gillard and opposition leader Tony Abbot were surrounded 200 protestors outside the restaurant the ceremony took place.
The protestors supported indigenous Australian rights, and 50 police officers rushed the PM and Abbot out to awaiting cars.
One protestor picked up a nice sounvenir in Gillard’s shoe.
The protestors set up a shanty town in protest of Australia Day.
