As we previously reported, Disney‘s live action remake of Aladdin made headlines this week after it was revealed that production was having trouble finding an actor to play the street rat turned prince. Many fans were baffled by this news as there are SEVERAL prominent celebs who’d be perfect for this role.

While a few names have been thrown around, it seems the internet has rallied around Ariana Grande‘s former Victorious costar, Avan Jogia. After Twitter users voiced their interest in seeing Avan play Aladdin, it was reported that the Nickelodeon actor is already in the running for the part. YASSSSS!
According to TMZ, Jogia has submitted an audition tape to the film’s director Guy Ritchie and to the producers over in London. It’s said the audition tape featured the 25-year-old performing a song from the musical. And it looks like it was impressive enough as he’s officially been added into the mix of Aladdin hopefuls!
Apparently, Disney and Ritchie are vehement that they want to find a performer who can sing, act, and dance. Not to mention, the studio is only considering actors of Middle Eastern or Indian descent. Sounds like they’re taking every precaution to make this movie perfect!
