Shelby decided that she wasn’t going to have a babe until she was ready!
While most seals give birth at around four or five, Shelby welcomed her baby girl at 16!
Housed in the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Seal and Sea Lion Habitat, Shelby little (she weighs 20 pounds!) girl jumped into water right away.
Zoo staffers are allowing mom and daughter some bonding time and will continue to monitor their condition.
