Nicolas Winding Refn is one of the biggest directors in the movie biz right now, but plans on taking his talents to the small screen too with an adaptation of Barbarella.
If you’ve never heard of the iconic sex symbol played by Jane Fonda in the late 60s, Barbarella is a hottie with a body who must travel to another planet in order to save Earth.
The original film, based off of a French comic book, was a critically panned, but has achieved a cult status. Although it’s a little goofy for our day and age, we trust the concept in the hands of the guy who directed Drive.
While developing the television series, the filmmaker will be finishing up Only God Forgives, his next feature length collaboration with Ryan Gosling.
Hopefully this female heroine will last longer than NBC’s revival of Wonder Woman.
