CNN’s medical correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, was supposedly offered the U.S. surgeon general position by President-elect Barack Obama.
Dr. Gupta also appears on CBS as a medical expert periodically.
Sources say the famous neurosurgeon nabbed the job offer after a two-hour meeting in November with the President-elect. Obama allegedly said during the meeting that Gupta could be the highest-profile surgeon general in history and would have an expanded role in providing health policy advice.
An insider revealed that the doc has discussed the job offer with his bosses at CBS and CNN to make sure he could be released from his contractual obligations.
That’s some step up, Dr. Gupta!
