Sources Say Ben Affleck Is In A 'Great Place' As He Celebrates One Year Of Sobriety

Ben Affleck celebrates one year of sobriety.

Ben Affleck is officially celebrating 365 days of sobriety.

Sources close to the Gone Girl actor say he is doing better than ever, one year after giving up booze and months after completing a 40-day stay at a rehabilitation center for his ongoing battle with alcoholism.

According to an Us Weekly source, the Oscar winner’s life is definitely on the upswing, noting:

“Ben is in a great place in his recovery and life. He continues to want to be the best father and friend he can be.”

Per the insider, Ben has been spending any free time outside of work obligations and the commitment to his personal recovery actively co-parenting his three kids with ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. The former couple shares 13-year-old Violet, 10-year-old Seraphina, and seven-year-old Samuel from their previous marriage.

“He and Jen do amazingly well at co-parenting the children. They have shared a great summer with the kids doing outings, travels, etc. They have a very trusting and special relationship.”

Well, that’s great to hear — especially when you consider the kids in this situation!

It wasn’t exactly an easy decision, but a necessary one, when the 47-year-old staged an intervention to confront her ex about his dangerous downward spiral and urge him to seek professional help.

These days though, Garner has been “really supportive” of the Triple Frontier actor as they “work very closely on parenting their kids,” per the source.

“Ben has found balance between his work and home life. He remains committed to a number of treatment and wellness methods that focus on his health.”

After completing his time in rehab, the Justice League star thanked his followers for the support in an October 2018 Instagram message, which read:

“The support I have received from my family, colleagues and fans means more to me than I can say. It’s given me the strength and support to speak about my illness with others. Battling any addiction is a lifelong and difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment. It is a full-time commitment. I am fighting for myself and my family.”

Affleck also sought treatment on two different occasions — back in 2001 and 2017 — for similar struggles with alcohol use.

It sounds like Ben is well on his way to putting those dark days behind him, and we’re so glad to hear it! Keep it going, buddy!
