Loved ones in Hawaii remembered and honored Beth Chapman as best they could on Saturday afternoon, staging a traditional paddle-out into the ocean off Fort DeRussy Beach in Waikiki in her honor.
Dog the Bounty Hunter‘s wife, the reality TV maven was just 51 years old when she passed away several days ago at a Hawaii hospital after fighting cancer for much of the last several years.

The couple spent much of their time in Hawaii, as their reality TV adventures had long documented, and so it was important to Beth that she be memorialized in a traditional way on the islands while still honoring local customs, and more.
A traditional chant known as an ‘oli’ was performed at the memorial, along with several prayers for Beth, and then the paddle-out into the ocean to honor her love for the area. Dog delivered a heartfelt speech on Saturday afternoon, too, thanking those in attendance for their love and support while also explaining to everyone why Hawaii was so special to Beth.
Judging by the videos and documentation from the scene (which you can see HERE), a LOT of people showed up — maybe some of it a result of the reality TV fame, but more so a testament to Beth’s well-liked and well-respected personality when she was alive. As sad as it is, it sounds like this service did lots to honor Beth’s memory and give Dog the slightest bit of closure in what must be an extremely difficult time for him and the entire family.
As we’ve been seeing all week, this was just one of two services planned for the reality TV momma; she’ll be memorialized at a later date back in Colorado, too, where the couple shares a home. As of Friday, Dog was still finalizing plans for that memorial.

It’s quite the sad story all around; Beth leaves behind a large family — several children, as well as several grand children — and countless friends and loved ones touched by her presence while she was alive. Dog, predictably, has struggled with losing the love of his life, too. We continue to send all our love to Dog, the Chapman family, and everyone else hurting by such a profound loss here.
So sad…
R.I.P., Beth.
