Beyonce & Ed Sheeran’s Outfits Spark Twitter Debate On Double Standards!

Ed Sheeran might need to get himself a glam squad.
The pop rocker’s recent duet with Beyonce sparked a Twitter debate Tuesday, with many claiming their much different wardrobe choices illustrates the double standards about what’s expected from men and women.
It all started when a Twitter user shared a screenshot of the duo performing at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in South Africa on Sunday. As we reported, Queen Bey headlined the festival with husband JAY-Z, and slayed in approximately 1,000 different outfits — one being a frilly hot pink dress with angelic shoulder wings.

The ensemble was deliciously over the top. Frankly, we’d expect nothing less from the Lemonade songstress — neither would her fans/the world. Knowing this, Twitterer Shon Faye was extra peeved when Eddy rolled out on stage in something we’d expect him to wear: jeans and a shirt.
The disparity in outfit choices was just too great for her not to point out. She posted:

The tweet immediately caught fire. Many users agreed, claiming that the two outfits represented the difference in industry expectations of men vs. women:

Others vehemently disagreed, arguing that the two outfits represented the very different styles of both artists — a regal queen vs. a sloppy rocker:

Many added that Mrs. Knowles-Carter dresses like goddess because she damn well WANTS to:

There’s no arguing that there are different expectations for men and women. But Beyonce isn’t simply a woman — she is an otherworldly goddess who demands nothing less than perfection every second of every day.
Watch how later in the performance, she gives Ed some side eye when he accidentally plays the wrong note (!):

Case in point… we can’t compare mere mortals to Beyonce.
What do U think, Perezious readers? Do U think female artists can get away with the sloppy rocker look?
