Now that Robbie Williams‘s $80 million contract with EMI is almost up, record labels like RCA and Sony are said to be in a bidding war over who gets to sign him.
With a recent string of hits with songwriter Guy Chambers and news of his upcoming reunion tour with Take That, RCA is hoping that they can convince Robbie to go with them. Sources say that they’ve pulled out all the stops by hiring one of Robbie’s closest industry friends Chris Briggs to help smooth the transition.
An industry insider says, “RCA have played a blinder by getting Chris on board. He’s one of the most significant figures in Robbie’s life and it’s sure to influence his decision whether he signs with them.”
