It’s official: no one watches award shows anymore!
While the Billboard Music Awards were certainly the talk of the town on Sunday night, it doesn’t look like the rest of the country was that interested in the industry — or at least not watching on TV.
That’s because despite crowd-pleasing performances from Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Madonna, and even The Go-Go’s, the BBMAs actually pulled in their worst numbers in four years!

Apparently, only 8.9 million people tuned in to watch the 3-hour-long event, giving ABC a measly 2.9 rating in the 18-39 demo — that’s only slightly better than 2012’s 7.4M/2.7!
However, the network was able to beat out NBC‘s The Carmichael Show, CBS‘ Undercover Boss, and FOX‘s animation domination to win the night… but still, we’re not impressed.
Maybe Ciara and Ludacris weren’t as great hosts as we thought…
