It sounds like both Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are really sure they can win in court… Because they’re skipping right past mediation!
On Tuesday, Entertainment Tonight reported that a mediator had been assigned to the bitter legal battle between the It Ends With Us co-stars. If you’re not sure what a mediator’s role is, they’re basically a neutral third party with the goal of helping facilitate communication between combating parties in a lawsuit. Like a judge but with no court or jury, a much smaller, more efficient way to settle a case — if the parties are interested in settling. Blake and Justin could use the mediator to figure things out and come to a resolution on their own rather than going to trial… But it seems neither of them want to go that route!
Forbes reported on Thursday that both Blake and Ryan Reynolds’ legal team, as well as Justin’s production company Wayfarer Studios, filed a joint letter to a federal judge requesting exemption from mediation!
Damn! If that doesn’t tell you how much they hate each other, we don’t know what does! (At least it’s one thing they agree on? LOLz!)
Mediation could have saved them A LOT of time, money, and stress… Remember, it’s what saved Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner from a nasty custody battle. They clearly both feel very strongly about their cases and don’t think they should settle. Maybe Blake truly believes she’ll find something in Justin’s phone records? There can only be one victor… We’ll just have to see how things play out.
