Last Fall on the past season on The Biggest Loser, trainer Bob Harper made the decision to publicly come out in order to help a contestant who was struggling to tell his father he was gay!
Although Bob says he originally came out when he was 17, it was the first time he openly talked about his sexuality on camera and this weekend he made his first appearance at a LGBT event since making the big announcement!
The trainer made his way to the Human Rights Campaign gala in Los Angeles on Saturday where he opened up about the huge moment, saying:
“I thought it was really important for me to come out. I’d been on my show for so many seasons and I had never found a relevant time to talk about it until I had a gay person on the show who was really, really suffering with a lot of self-loathing. I just wanted him to know that it’s okay to be gay and I decided I needed to come out at that moment and it’s been great ever since.”
That’s awesome!
It’s always great seeing people in the LGBT community helping each other out and showing others that it’s OK to be openly gay in the public eye!
Way to go, Bob!
