Bon Jovi Supports New Jersey's New Overdose Law!

bon jovi chris christie new jersey overdose law arrest sign legal matters politics
There is a new law in New Jersey that says that if you’re overdosing on ANY drug, you can call for medical assistance without the fear of legal repercussion! This SHOULD save lives!
Naysayers say that this is just a removal of a deterrent from taking drugs in the first place!
Bon Jovi is NOT one of those people! In fact, he applauds this new law, as his daughter survived a drug overdose just a few months ago! He was even there for the signing by Chris Christie!
Here’s what Bon Jovi said:

“I hope that Governor Christie’s actions here will cause other states to stand up and to pay attention and also to follow in his footsteps.”

Prosecutors dropped drug charges against Stephanie Bongiovi and another student under New York’s good Samaritan overdose-reporting law. She was at school when it happened!
Christie calls it like he sees’em too: he has called the war on drugs a failure and has pushed for mandatory treatment for all non-violent drug offenders! He said:

“It’s our obligation to ensure that we are doing everything we can to prevent tragic deaths from drug overdoses.”

Woo!
This even extends protection to people on parole and probation from being arrested, charged or prosecuted for small amounts of drugs when reporting an overdose! Saving lives should be the SOLE priority when someone is overdosing!
Good work, New Jersey!
