Maitland Ward has had a couple days to sleep on her heated argument with former Boy Meets World co-star Danielle Fishel. But she has NOT calmed down!
If anything things are worse between the cast of the TGIF fave than ever. Because she just can’t buy that this was spontaneous. The way she was invited onto Pod Meets World, the rewatch podcast Danielle co-hosts with Rider Strong and Will Friedle, she really feels like she was set up!
In an interview with The NY Post on Thursday, Maitland explained how the convo was sold to her:
“What’s really hurtful about the situation is, maybe she was mad or whatever, and she wanted to bring it up like that, but Will had presented this show to me before like it was going to be so much fun. We’re going to talk about old times. The fans are going to love it. We finally get into your season.”
No wonder she’s so upset with Will! She’s always been “closer” with him than anyone else from the show, and he made her feel safe:
“They have dragged this out for a long time. Will has always texted me over the years saying, ‘We’re going to get you on soon. We really are excited about it.’ And he has always been a friend to me, I thought.”
And then instead of a nice day… Topanga went there. Danielle asked her point-blank if she hated the rest of the cast. She just threw down the gauntlet. And we know there’s been bad blood between the two of them for years. So is it any wonder the whole thing devolved into a fight?

It’s something Maitland is now convinced was “orchestrated” by the co-hosts, that they must have planned to ambush her. It was good for ratings, after all. It was just terrible for her relationships with them.
And since it was Will who lured her onto the show, he’s the one she blames for the “betrayal”:
“He was my connection and he’d always check in. We weren’t seeing each other every day, but we were friends. If he knew this was going to happen like this and didn’t give me any warning about it, that really sucks. And that really is a betrayal, that way from him.”
Damn. The closest thing she had to a connection that old crew was Will… and now she’s rethinking that!
“I can’t trust that he would ever watch out for me in a situation or have my back.”
Oh man, that’s the worst.
She says things would be different if they’d approached her honestly, asking if she was willing to air their dirty laundry.
“If I was told, ‘Listen, Danielle wants to really hash this out ahead of time.’ Because on the show I was not starting anything with her. I was not going to start anything big with her… If she really didn’t want to have a dramatic fight with me, she didn’t have to start it and she didn’t have to invite me on the show. And Will didn’t have to lure me in by saying, ‘Oh, it’s going to be so much fun.’ I thought bygones would be like bygones. We can just laugh about a lot of it and then talk heartfelt about a lot of it.’ And that’s just not the way it was presented.”
That or if Danielle had approached the subject with more sensitivity maybe? As is, it feels like an ambush to the adult film star:
“I thought as we got into the show, it was weird that she wasn’t bringing anything up even in conversation, like, ‘Hey, let’s talk about this. We might have had some bad times in the in the past, what were your feelings? And what were my feelings? And we can both apologize and talk it out. But then she saved it for the end. I thought the show was winding down at that point. And I think she wanted to catch me off guard. She wanted to try to rattle me and and she did. I didn’t expect it.”
She added:
“So I really believe she definitely planned it before. But again, the hurtful thing would be if Will was a part of that.”
Maitland told the outlet she has not yet spoken to either co-host since the fight. Damn, we thought her going on the pod would have been such a chance for peace. Instead, we get this. What a shame.
