We’re glad he’s okay, despite his dia-beet-us!
Bret Michaels is recovering from his emergency surgery for appendicitis, but he’s relieved it was caught in time! Bret explains:
“I was throwing up all day and really thought I had just got a severe case of the flu. About 10 minutes before show time doctors got on the bus and said, ‘Bret we really don’t think this is the flu’ and told me that I WAS GOING TO THE HOSPITAL.
“After a CAT scan, they determined it was acute appendicitis and they performed emergency surgery right there in the middle of the night. After the fact, they told me that if I had gone onstage like I wanted to, it likely would have ruptured and I could have died. Not good.”
Not good at all!
Lucky for Bret he’s doing well and he reassures us all that, “yes there are hot nurses taking care of me.” Ha! He will probably have to take extra care of himself though due to his diabetes. He says:
“I don’t know how much longer I will be under medical supervision. I├óΓé¼Γäóve spoken to several doctors and they all seem to be impressed with the condition I have been able to keep myself in as a juvenile diabetic.
“But a lot of extra care needs to be taken to make sure my body heals correctly├óΓé¼┬ª They say it can take four to six weeks to recover, but maybe longer for a diabetic.├óΓé¼┬¥
Get well soon, Bret!
