Britney Spears Wants Her Dad OUT As Her Conservator -- And Here's How She's Making It Happen!

Britney Spears Father Conservatorship

Britney Spears wants her dad removed as her conservator just as much as the most stalwart #FreeBritney supporters do!

According to a new filing on Monday from the pop queen’s attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, she “is strongly opposed to having [Jamie Spears] return as the conservator of her person.” Well, nothing vague or mysterious about that!

Instead the docs say she “strongly prefers” that her care manager, Jodi Montgomery “continue in that role as [she] has done for nearly a year.”

This is a HUGE update, especially because many fans of Miz Spears have been voicing their concern for quite some time that the 38-year-old has been denied the right to vocalize what she wants her life to look like. Though the latest filing does not indicate that she wants the conservatorship to end entirely, it’s clear she wants her father out of the picture. Per Ingham:

“Without in any way waiving her right to seek termination of this conservatorship in the future, Britney would like Ms. Montgomery’s appointment as conservator of her person to be made permanent.”

As you’ll recall, Montgomery was handed over the control of Spears’ day-to-day life in September 2019 following an alleged altercation between 14-year-old Sean Preston Federline and his grandfather, though Jamie was later cleared of any wrongdoing. The licensed professional conservator is set to keep her role in the Grammy Award winner’s life until at least August 22, pending a hearing scheduled for Wednesday, August 19.

However, there is still the matter of the momma of two’s finances, which her father still manages, but she hopes “to have a qualified corporate fiduciary appointed to serve in this role,” instead. The 68-year-old and an attorney, Andrew Wallet, were initially appointed as conservators in February 2008 following the singer’s public breakdown and divorce from Kevin Federline. Wallet stepped down in March 2019, leaving Jamie as the sole conservator of his daughter’s estate.

Also in the new court docs, Ingham broke down the phases of his client’s conservatorship into three parts: first up being the “triage,” when her “conservators rescued her from collapse, exploitation by predatory individuals and financial ruin.”

Ouch!

The second phase covers her “performing years” as a “world class entertainer,” likely a reference to her albums Circus, Femme Fatale, Britney Jean, and Glory, all released between 2008 and 2016.

And finally, the present stage. Currently, Spears has no “desire … to perform at this time,” says Ingham. In fact, it’s this change that the legal team is using to make their argument:

“We are now at a point where the conservatorship must be changed substantially in order to reflect the major changes in her current lifestyle and her stated wishes.”
