Though Brittany Maynard‘s life may draw to a close on November first, it’s clear her legacy will live on in the work she has done for the Death with Dignity movement.
On Wednesday, 29-year-old Brittany published what sounds like will be her last post on the Brittany Maynard Fund website. Though she doesn’t explicitly express that this will be her last writing before November 1st, the emotional tone of the piece suggests this may be the final time we hear from this courageous woman.

In the note, Brittany thanks her supporters and expresses gratitude for those who have championed legislation in support of the death with dignity act.
Brittany writes:
“I want to thank you all, for resonating powerfully with my story. Because of the incredible reaction, something monumental has started to happen. Last week alone, lawmakers in Connecticut and New Jersey came forward in support of DwD bills, and promised to put them back in the spotlight. I won’t live to see the DwD movement reach critical mass, but I call on you to carry it forward. In the coming weeks, C&C is going to call on you to lobby your local lawmakers. When they do, I ask you to take action. I have to believe that the pain we’ve endured has a greater purpose in the change we can create as a nation. I leave it in your hands.”
Wow, what powerful words, especially the closing: I leave it in your hands.
While we’re sad to lose such an inspirational woman like Brittany, we take comfort in knowing she’ll continue to have a profound impact on this country.
