According to some, YES!
If you were surprised as us over Burlesque getting ANY recognition from the Golden Globes, not to mention a nod in the ‘Best Picture’ category, then you won’t be surprised to hear that many are thinking that the HFPA members had a little, ahem, incentive to give the flick some accolades!
Patrick Goldstein, of the L.A. Times, explains:
“If you talk to the top award-season consultants, they can barely disguise their lack of respect for the HFPA members, who often put themselves in indelicate situations, as with this year’s crew, which took a Sony-sponsored trip to Las Vegas to see Cher in concert, then gave her film a stunning best picture nod.”
Wowza! Shady shady!
As much as we LOVE our Cher, we have to admit that this movie, as fun as it was, definitely seems a little out of place in the list of nominations!
But who knows?!
