College Athlete Ends Own Career To Donate Bone Marrow!

Talk about selfless!!
Cameron Lyle is a senior at the University of New Hampshire, and just decided to end his own athletics career in favor of donating his bone marrow to a man with leukemia! That’s so incredible!
Cam focusing primarily on shot put, the team encouraged players his sophomore year to join the bone marrow registry — so he did! Two years later, they’ve told him he’s a match… which is super rare to be a match with anyone outside of your own family!
Here’s what he said:

“They told me it was a one in 5 million chance of me being a match for a non-family member. They gave me the timeline and everything’s been moving quickly after that.”

The recipient is a 28-year-old male who is suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Donors and recipients have to remain anonymous to each other for up to a year.
The man who need to marrow is on a tight schedule, too. He’s been given 6 months to live unless he can get this transplant. To us and every other decent human being out there, Cameron’s choice is a no-brainer. It’s sucks to forfeit that final year, but sports are sports and this is a man’s life!
Cameron sounds like an amazing guy through and through!
