Cassie Breaks Down Crying On Stand, Says She'd Give Back Diddy's $20 Million If...

Cassie Reveals 'Nail In The Coffin' Moment She Left Diddy -- But Says She Doesn't Hate Him

Damn. Cassie withstood a lot during this week of testimony. For this moment to be her breaking point… It really says a lot.

The Me & U singer was the star witness against Diddy this week, testifying about his alleged sexual abuse, physical violence, threats, drug use, and more. A smaller moment that snuck through? Earlier in the week she offhandedly revealed how much her ex paid to shut her up.

See, at the end of 2023, Cassie was the first to come out with public allegations against Combs, filing a lawsuit accusing him of abuse and rape. They reportedly reached a settlement agreement the very next day! So we knew it was a payday for Cassie. Clearly Diddy wanted this to go away as quickly as he could — when he still thought that was possible.

The amount? $20 million! It’s no small potatoes! And the defense didn’t forget!

Bringing it back up in cross examination on Friday, defense attorney Anna Estevao first asked about money problems. She asked about Cassie and husband Alex Fine moving back into her parents’ home in Connecticut in October 2023, wondering whether that was for financial reasons. Cassie said it was just to get out of Los Angeles. Then Estevao tied it to the money, getting to the point…

She mentioned the tour Cassie was preparing for at the time — noting how when she got her windfall, she no longer had to do all that work:

“When you saw you were going to get the $20 million, you canceled the tour.”

Cassie fired back that the money “wasn’t the reason why” she canceled. But it seems to us the defense successfully illustrated their point: which is, unless we’re mistaken, just how life-changing that money was. Enough money that you no longer have to work, at a time when you just had to move into your parents’ home so you needed it even more. That about sum it up? We think so.

But an hour or so later in the testimony, the money came back up — and Cassie said she’d rather be whole internally. She emotionally told prosecutor Emily Johnson on redirect that she wishes she could give the money back! She declared:

“I’d give that money back if I never had to have freak offs.”

Then, per multiple news outlets, Cassie broke down in tears, crying on the stand as she realized how much she wanted not to have the money:

“If I never had to have freak offs, I would have had agency and autonomy… And I wouldn’t have had to work so hard to get it back.”

She was so upset! Will the jury believe her? $20 million is a lot. But then again, the descriptions of some of what the poor woman went through… we imagine for a great many people, there’s not enough money in the world to make up for that.

What do YOU think??
