Woman Fired For Blocking Black Man From Entering His Own Apartment Building!

Key Fob Kelly!

Woman Blocks Black Man From Entering His Apartment Building!

In this week’s edition of White People Being Awful, a Missouri woman was recorded attempting to block a black man from entering her apartment building, even though he also lives there.

Hilary Brooke Mueller  AKA “Key Fob Kelly” was fired from her job on Sunday, two days after D’Arreion Toles was returning home to St. Louis’ Elder Shirt Lofts following a late night at his office. A video of the encounter shows Mueller, who lives on the third floor, standing in the doorway of the complex and demanding to see proof that Toles lives in the building.

Toles made several attempts to enter, but an “uncomfortable” Mueller kept blocking him, asking for his card key. She told him:

“If you want to come into my building…”

To which he interjected:

“It’s my building as well. So, I need you to get out of my way … It’s not your building, you’re not the owner.”

Toles eventually showed his key fob and gained access into the building — but, 30 minutes later, was shocked to find police at his door. He wrote on Facebook:

“30 mins later police knock on my door because she called! I was shocked this is America in 2018!”

Two days after the video — which now has almost seven million views — was posted on social media, Mueller’s employer confirmed she was fired from her job. Tribeca-STL shared on its website:

“The video is showing the employee in her private life at her own residence interacting with another person. The Tribeca-STL family is a minority-owned company that consists of employees and residents from many racial backgrounds. We are proud of this fact and do not and never will stand for racism or racial profiling at our company. After a review of the matter the employee has been terminated and is no longer with our Company. At Tribeca-STL we want all residents, guests and visitors to feel welcome, safe and respected.”

In the end, Toles says he’s glad he had his camera out to record the incident, but has no ill will against Mueller, telling local station KMOV4:

“Like I said, don’t respond negatively. Don’t go after the lady. Let her be at peace. Let her live her life. I am not mad at her. I am not upset with her. I am not going to go after her legally or anything like that. I wish her the best. I would still have a conversation with her.”

Based on the video, conversation doesn’t seem like this woman’s strong suit. Watch for yourself (below).

Mark Zuckerberg Admits Nearly 50 Million Facebook Users Were Breached In Attack!

Logged Out?

Facebook Admits Nearly 50 Million Users Were Breached!

Facebook users are at risk once again. The social media titan revealed on Friday that the accounts of nearly 50 million users were breached after attackers exploited a feature in the site’s code.

The breach was discovered Tuesday afternoon. CEO Mark Zuckerberg says they don’t know if users’ personal info was obtained by the attackers, as they are still in the early phase of investigating, but the company patched the vulnerably Thursday night and alerted the FBI Wednesday.

Zucky explained that the site is under “constant attacks” but it will step up efforts to lock down users’ accounts. Over 90 million users were forced to log out of their accounts Friday morning as a security precaution.

Video: Late Night Weighs In On Brett Kavanaugh

As for what exactly happened, the attackers seem to have exploited a weakness in the site’s code in its “View As” feature that lets users see what their profile looks like to someone else. This allowed attackers to steal Facebook access tokens — the digital keys that keep users logged in — in order to take over people’s accounts.

Facebook has yet to identify the attackers or the origin of the attack, but has reset the access tokens of 90 million users as a security measure. Maybe reset your passwords, too, just in case.

Twitter And Periscope Permanently Ban Alex Jones & Infowars

Alex Jones BANNED!

Twitter & Periscope Permanently Ban Alex Jones & Infowars

About a month after virtually every other tech service in Silicon Valley did it, Twitter just joined the party and banned Alex Jones and Infowars from both its own platform, as well as its subsidiary, Periscope.

Related: The 5 Most Messed Up Things Alex Jones Has Ever Said

The company announced the move in a series of tweets on Thursday afternoon (below):

Though it’s unclear based on those tweets what exactly sent Jones and Infowars over the edge this time, reports suggest that it was Jones’ behavior towards Senator Marco Rubio that got him in hot water. (After confronting Rubio in D.C. yesterday, Jones took to Periscope to brag about how he trolls journalists and share abusive language about them.)

Previously, Jones had been banned by other social networks and outlets, including Facebook and YouTube, for his problematic speech and divisive, controversial content.

Now, it looks like Twitter has joined the fray.

Child Psychologists Offering Facebook Counseling To Parents Of ‘Fortnite’-Obsessed Kids!

ATTN: Parents!

Child Psychologists Will Help Tame Your Kid's 'Fortnite' Obsession, Maybe

Has your child developed an unhealthy relationship with Fortnite? Has this relationship hindered their motivation to do literally anything else?

Don’t worry, child psychologists are here to help — on Facebook!

As the new school year goes underway, dozens of support groups have popped up on social media helping parents transition their children from a playing the survival game to studying, doing homework, and surviving irl, basically.

Related: PewDiePie Is Sorry For Saying The N-Word During Live Stream

One of these groups, Fortnite-iParent 101, educates parents about the game itself and helps them oversee their child’s relationship with it.

Child psychologist Dr. Adam Pletter told ABC News he started the group “to give parents a safe place to come in and talk without judgment,” adding that navigating Fortnite can be unfamiliar for un-savvy parents who are raising “digital natives.”

He explained:

“Many parents in this generation are referred to as ‘digital immigrants’ — we did not grow up with the internet. Our kids are referred to as ‘digital natives,’ they grew up with it, they don’t think anything is wrong about it.”

So, how does a digital immigrant crack down on a digital native’s play time?

Pletter’s group aims to provide parents with “very specific tips” — like staying consistent with one’s rules and maintaining communication. Some parents even said playing the game with the child helps them understand their kid’s addiction.

Whether or not these tips actually pry kids away from TV screens, it’s great to hear parents now have a reliable resource to help them try.

Outrage After Video Showing Mom Dunking Toddler's Head In Toilet Goes Viral

A Florida mom is being investigated by Child Protective Services after a video went viral that appears to show her disciplining a young son by dunking his head in the toilet and flushing.

The boy can be heard screaming “no” and crying during the video, while somebody off-camera at the very end of the video appears to say something like “that’s so mean.”

The mom, named in local news reports as Kaitlyn Wolf from Leesburg, Florida, claims that the whole thing was a joke, done to discipline her three-year-old son after he used bad language.

Wolf apparently sent the video to an ex-boyfriend of hers, who then released it publicly, to where we are today.

Here’s the video in question (below):

The original video in question appears to have originated on Facebook; you can see it (and the comments and reactions to it) by clicking HERE.

The YouTube star — who was known for sharing her story about living with cystic fibrosis — suffered a massive stroke (caused by a blood clot) on August 26 after a successful double lung transplant.

She was surrounded by her parents, was “not in any pain,” and “peacefully” passed — according to the medical staff.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your massive amazing out pouring of love. We are asking to please give the family privacy at this time. You’ll Never Guess HOW MANY Social Media-Obsessed Teens Had Cosmetic Surgery Last Year Alone…

Social Media To Blame!

Study Finds HOW MANY Teens Had Plastic Surgery Last Year?!?!

Who knew this many teenagers were going under the knife?!

A study published Tuesday in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (who knew?), revealed that in 2017 alone, more than 229,000 cosmetic procedures were performed on patients between the ages of 13 and 19.

Related: Girl Wakes Up From Surgery With Swollen Lips, Swears She’s Kylie

Furthermore, cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures as a whole jumped 11% in 2017, crossing the $6.5 billion line! Crazy!!

But it’s the data on teenagers that is most alarming to the journal — so alarming, that the study’s findings were the impetus for the journal creating guidelines — for the first time ever — on how to safely evaluate and treat teenage patients.

The guidelines are quick to note that some cosmetic surgeries on teenagers are perfectly understandable; nose reconstruction procedures after injury, for example, or operations on cleft lips.

And no doubt there is a portion of those whopping 229,000 procedures that are certainly advisable in examples like that.

But how many aren’t so, um, medically necessary??

It’s tough to pin down an exact number in the guidelines, but the study’s authors are quick to note that demand for procedures has only skyrocketed ever since the advent of social media:

“As the saying goes, ‘Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should,’ — this reflects the current dilemma presented to plastic surgeons. The demand for plastic surgery in adolescents has increased dramatically, despite the controversy over performing plastic surgery procedures in this population. The average millennial takes over 25,000 selfies in his or her lifetime, which is astronomical and one of the major reasons for the self-esteem issues in this age group. Moreover, the standard selfies have exaggerated lower facial features such as nasal or lip or chin problems, leading to increased interest in this age group for cosmetic medicine and cosmetic surgery.”

No kidding…

Also, 25,000 selfies?! What???

Social media plays a huge role for teens, here, too.

A survey of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery linked to the study found that 40% of plastic surgeons heard “looking better in selfies on InstagramSnapchat, and Facebook” was the main incentive their patients had for getting the the procedure done.

Related: On Kim Kardashian’s ‘Deformed’ Plastic Surgery

And Stafford Broumand, a plastic surgeon in NYC, revealed that patients (of all ages) routinely come to him with pictures from accounts they follow on social media as guidelines for how they want their surgery to look.

That, the academy worries, is only magnified with younger people who spend significantly more time on their phones than older generations.

Altogether, it’s an interesting study with some important new guidelines for teenagers and plastic surgery.

What a crazy world…

What about YOU, Perezcious readers?! How young is too young for cosmetic surgery? What if your teenager wanted to have a procedure done?
