The Chappell Roan drama isn’t over!
Over the weekend, pro soccer player Jorginho Frello BLASTED the singer on social media, claiming her security guards berated his 11-year-old stepdaughter Ada and wife Catherine Harding for attempting to take a peek at her. The mom-daughter duo were apparently staying at the same hotel as the Pink Pony Club singer in Brazil ahead of Lollapalooza, and the incident occurred during breakfast in a communal area of said hotel. Jorginho wrote on his Instagram Story:
“The worst part is she didn’t even approach her. She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything.”
According to him, “what happened next was completely disproportionate” as a “large security guard” approached Catherine and the child “and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner” about not allowing the child to “‘disrespect’ or ‘harass’ other people.”

While Jorginho shares a son with Catherine, he is not the biological father of Ada. Prior to her relationship with the athlete, Catherine welcomed the child with Jude Law! So this is The Holiday star’s daughter we’re talking about!
Chappell responded the following morning with her “half of the story,” claiming she “didn’t even see a woman and a child” and that the guard was not a member of her “personal security.” She explained:
“It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe because there’s no action even taken. I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children. Like, that is crazy. I’m sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something that you would do something and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.”

Now, we’re hearing things from the mother’s perspective!
On Sunday afternoon, Catherine Harding, who goes by Cat Cavelli, took to Instagram to weigh in on the drama. In a six minute video, she cast doubt over Chappell’s response, claiming the security guard was “100 percent not a security guard of the hotel” and that he was there to “look after artists.” She went on:
“Did she send him to do it? Again, I don’t know, Look, I would like to hope not, but at the same time, I think that you have a responsibility when you are a celebrity to make sure, I guess, that the people who work for you and act on your behalf are acting on your behalf. So would he do that if he didn’t have that authority to do so? I don’t know. If he does then obviously that’s a big problem because then he’s representing her in a way she doesn’t want to be represented.”
The protective mother went on to claim her daughter did not have a phone on her at the time, did not attempt to take a photo of Chappell, and didn’t approach her:
“She literally did not do anything, she just looked at her…she came back and said ‘Mum I don’t know if it’s her.’ Because obviously she looked like … her costumes and everything … she looks a little bit different.”

The pair then apparently carried on with their breakfast before the security guard confronted them with a “very aggressive tone.”
“Even if [Roan] did send him or she didn’t send him, I don’t know, for me it felt like it really overstepped a boundary”
Catherine doubled down on Jorginho’s claims that the guard berated her about teaching the child to respect people’s privacy and claimed he said Ada was “badly educated.” She said she tried to tell him her daughter was just excited to see an artist she “admires,” but that she would “never cross someone’s boundaries” as she’s used to being amongst well-known celebrities being the daughter of a famous actor and stepdaughter of a pro athlete.
Catherine also said she stood firm with the security guard that she and her daughter were in a “public area” of the hotel eating breakfast as paying customers and had a right to look at anyone they wanted to in said area. She proclaimed they in no way did anything to make Chappell feel “intimidated” and suggested if the Hot to Go artist is that bothered by people looking at her, she should eat breakfast in her room.
She went on to reveal she and her daughter ended up skipping Chappell’s show — even though that was the whole reason they traveled to São Paulo:
“I think she’s a very talented artist. I like her a lot. We came all the way to São Paulo to watch the show. It was my daughter’s birthday present…a little bit ruined because we didn’t go to the show last night.”

However, things seemed to turn around for the child as Catherine shared a photo of her posing with singer Lewis Capaldi on her Story. See (below):

What are your thoughts on this murky, Perezcious readers? Do you believe that Chappell didn’t send the security guard over? She’s definitely been clear about building boundaries with fans in the past, but this seems extreme! Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
