Jamaica’s Olympians will be Jammin‘ in some fancy uniforms next month courtesy of Cedella Marley.
Bob Marley’s oldest daughter teamed up with PUMA to design the kits, which she says was a thrill:
├óΓé¼┼ôIt is truly an honor to design this collection for my home country and my home team. It├óΓé¼Γäós not even a dream come true because it├óΓé¼Γäós something I never dreamed would be possible… To have a role in creating the outfits for our Olympians is a thrill. I admire what PUMA has been doing in Jamaica over the years and the Marley family has the same type of give-back philosophy. I think this partnership is going to be legendary.├óΓé¼┬¥
Fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt added:
“I can├óΓé¼Γäót think of a better person to design our Olympic outfits than Cedella. PUMA got that right├óΓé¼┬ª hooking up with a legendary Jamaican. She├óΓé¼Γäós a great designer but also carries on the spirit of our nation through the legacy of the Marley family. It├óΓé¼Γäós going to be inspirational to run in London with that energy surrounding me.├óΓé¼┬¥
Cedella joins other designers like Ralph Lauren, Prada, Stella McCartney and Armani who have designed for the U.S., English and Italian teams.
You can see the entire Jamaican team wearing Cedella’s designs at the 2012 London Olympics, and preview some of them (below).
