The year is almost over, but some celebrities are still making last minute efforts to raise money for the charities of their choice.
Hugh Jackman, Jaden Smith, Mariah Carey and other celebs are auctioning off artwork to raise money for Pencils of Promise — an organization dedicated to building schools in communities that need them around the world.
Sophia Bush has been a major supporter of Pencils of Promise’s mission for some time but realizes not all of her fans will support a charity because she said so. Her mission this year is to find out what they do support and provide the information they need to get involved, explaining:
“Not everyone who follows me on Twitter cares about education. Not everyone cares about cancer. Or the environment. But everyone cares about something! And it├óΓé¼Γäós my goal to find a lot of those ├óΓé¼╦£something├óΓé¼Γäós├óΓé¼Γäó and put the information out there.├óΓé¼┬¥
John Legend is a firm believer in early musical education and is promoting DonorsChoose, which allows teachers to post projects that they need donations for. The soul singer tweeted about a donation he made earlier this week, writing:
“Thx 2 @WassermanFDN just donated percussion instruments to Mr. Medina’s class. Make some music! #DonorsChooseLA”
That’s not all he’s doing either. He’s fighting poverty through educating disadvantaged communities with his ShowMe campaign.
Championship boxer Manny Pacquiao is featured on a Cat Power single King Rides By, which listeners can purchase for 99 cents or more with all funds going toward the Festival of Children Foundation and the Ali Forney Center — an organization that helps gay and lesbian teens.
And then there’s Justin Bieber and Lady GaGa who just never stop donating to charity. LOLz!
