Finding your soulmate in a celebrity seems like a plot straight out of a rom-com (or fanfiction). But every once in a while, a civilian catches the eye of a celeb — and sometimes, they even make it down the aisle. Even more rarely, sometimes a super-famous person actually ends up marrying their biggest fan.

Liam Payne
Liam Payne reportedly met his future fiancée Maya Henry at a One Direction meet-and-greet in 2015. They didn’t connect romantically until 2018, shortly after Liam split with his baby momma Cheryl Cole. The couple have been on-and-off since then: they were engaged in summer of 2020 and broke up a year later. However, the pop star rekindled his relationship with the model shortly after that, although E! News said the reunited lovebirds “aren’t putting pressure on the wedding or engagement yet.”
Prince William
When Prince William started getting serious with future wife (and future Queen Consort) Kate Middleton, the British press made quite a fuss over her status as a “commoner.” But not only was she non-famous, she was also reportedly a big fan. One of her boarding school roommates told royal biographer Katie Nicholl that Kate had a poster of Will taped to the wall in their dorm room. The Duchess of Cambridge has denied it, though the prince teased during their engagement interview that “She had 10 or 20 pictures of me up on her wall at university.”
Steve Harvey
Steve Harvey first met his wife Marjorie Harvey when she showed up late to his comedy show at a small venue in Memphis in the ’90s. As the couple recounted on his talk show, the comedian halted his set – but instead of heckling the latecomer, he announced:
“I’m sorry, I don’t know who this is, but I’m going to marry her.”
It took some time to make that a reality – the TV personality was married to two other women before he had his chance with Marjorie in 2005. The pair finally tied the knot in 2007, and the rest is history.
Jennifer Lawrence
After a series of high-profile relationships (Nicholas Hoult, Chris Martin, and director Darren Aronofsky), Jennifer Lawrence finally settled down with totally non-famous art gallery director Cooke Maroney. Their relationship came amidst the Oscar winner taking a step back from Hollywood in 2018 — something that clearly worked out for her, as the couple tied the knot in 2019 and are expecting their first child together as of 2021.
Matthew Lewis
Love is its own form of magic, huh? Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis (aka Neville Longbottom) can thank the blockbuster book series for his own fairytale romance. According to TMZ, he met his wife Angela Jones in 2016 while she was working a Wizarding World event at Universal Studios in Orlando. Sparks flew immediately: the pair were engaged by November of the same year and married in 2018.
Justin Bieber
Yes, we know they’re both famous… BUT the future Mr. & Mrs. Justin Bieber actually met way back when thanks to her father Stephen Baldwin in 2009. Obviously, Hailey Bieber went on to become a model (though she was totally a Belieber back in the day) and they eventually re-met and began dating (twice), later getting married. Matt Damon
Matt Damon met his future wife Luciana Barroso while she was bartending in Miami, Florida in April 2003 as the Massachusetts-native was filming Stuck on You. The couple became engaged in September 2005 and married in a private civil ceremony in December 2005. What a dream romance — like something out of a movie!
Patrick Dempsey
After his divorce in 1994, Patrick Dempsey met hairstylist and makeup artist Jillian Fink when the Grey’s Anatomy star went into the salon for a hair cut. After three years of getting his mop cut by Fink, he asked her out and they married in July 1999.
Elvis Presley
While stationed in Germany, Elvis Presley met Priscilla Beaulieu when she was only 14 in 1959. Despite their ten year age gap, the two frequently spent time together until he departed West Germany. After staying in touch for almost three years, her parents allowed her to move to Memphis in March 1963 under the agreement she would attend high school and live in a separate house until she graduated, and that they would eventually be allowed to marry, which they did in 1967.
Kelsey Grammer
Kelsey Grammer met his future wife Kayte Walsh, who was then working as a flight attendant, while he was on a trip to New York in 2009. They began seeing each other even though he was still married at the time to former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Camille Grammer. Kelsey and Camille later divorced, and the Fraiser alum married Kayte two weeks later in 2011, and today has three children with her.
Conan O’Brien
Conan O’Brien met copywriter Liza Powel in 2000 while they were doing a sketch on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The two dated for 18 months before marrying in 2002.
Amy Schumer
Amy Schumer was introduced to her future husband Chris Fischer via her assistant, Molly Fischer (AKA Chris’ sister) around fall 2016, and they later tied the knot in February 2018 before welcoming their first child Gene Attell in May 2019.
