Celebrities may be cooler than mere mortals in some ways, but they’re not immune to trends!
In fact, you could even argue that they’re extra susceptible to trends, because they usually rely on others to dress them.
In any case, there have been some very obvious and often-occurring trends on some of our favorite stars over the past year, and we thought it’d be helpful to list them (in no particular order) for anyone itching to mimic his or her fave.
Starting with… Flash Tattoos!
As seen above, stars like Vanessa Hudgens, Beyoncè and more have been donning these glistening temporary tats! Zero commitment and tons of sparkly fun!

1. Clutches that look like books
They look like books but they’re not! Mind = blown! Okay, maybe not mind-blowing, but super cute and super trendy, as seen on Katy Perry!
2. Tiny Chanel purses
Too small to serve any real purpose, these Chanel crossbody-style purses are still majorly popular with fashionistas like Miley Cyrus and Rihanna.
3. Giant pearl necklaces
Those skinny, multi-strand pearl necklaces are so out! It’s been all about these huge, obviously-fake-but-that’s-the-point Chanel versions that RiRi and Miley have sported!
4. Birkenstocks
These shoes made a comeback during a Celine‘s runway show last year — and stars like Anne Hathaway, the Olsen Twins and Miranda Kerr have been rocking the comfy design ever since!
5. Fancy headbands
They’re the perfect way to spice up an everyday look. Taylor Swift‘s flower headband is just darling! Meanwhile, Lupita Nyong’o spiced up her Cinderella look at the Oscars with a sparkly version!
6. Weird hats
Big, weird-looking hats are so in right now, mostly thanks to Pharrell. Kylie Jenner‘s totally jumped on the bandwagon! And Erykah Badu even outdid Pharrell at the Met Gala!
7. Valentino studded pumps and flats
Studded Valentino shoes give the ubiquitous Louboutins a run for their money. Nearly everyone in Hollywood, from the Kardashians to Alessandra Ambrosio to AnnaSophia Robb (above), was spotted wearing them!
8. Ear cuffs
Regular old earrings are done! It’s all about ear cuffs now! Jennifer Lawrence rocked them during the Paris premiere of Catching Fire toward the end of last year, and ever since we’ve seen them dazzle the ears of many a starlet.
9. Backpacks
Diane Kruger took this $3,500 Chanel backpack to Coachella, following in the trend-setting footsteps of Rihanna and Kristen Stewart!
10. Beanies
Popular in the 90s, beanies have made a comeback thanks to people like Rihanna and Sarah Hyland! They keep your head warm AND they make you look kind of badass.
11. Belly Chains
Queen Bey isn’t the only celeb rocking this fun summertime accessory! From the youngin’s like Kylie Jenner, to the older crowd like Bethenny Frankel — stars love letting their mid-section shine from the beach and beyond!
13. Creepers
You can thank RiRi for adding creepers into your style vocabulary. Invented during World War II to give soldiers shoes with sturdier soles, creepers can now be seen on celebs like Jessie J, Avril Lavigne, and Katy Perry. And they can thank RiRi, too!
