Researchers in Macedonia came across a pretty crazy sight: a young snake tried to eat a giant centipede and they both ended up dying.
The crazy part is, the snake got the best of the centipede, eating it whole — but we guess the young female nose-horned viper didn’t kill its prey! Instead, it ate the centipede alive!
This was no small centipede either! It was huge, weighing more than the snake!
Being a deadly predator itself, the centipede fought its way out of the snake, bursting out of its stomach.
The researchers said:
“[..] the snake had swallowed the centipede alive, and that, paradoxically, the prey has eaten its way through the snake, almost reaching its freedom.”
We guess the snake’s venom or fang strikes must’ve taken their toll on the centipede before it could fully escape.
What an epic battle that must’ve been.
Make both creatures 50 feet long and you’ve got a movie right there! LOLz!
Check out the super gross pic (below) and prepare to be grossed out/amazed!
