In 2013, the Filipino musician came out as a lesbian, and the next year told Oprah Winfrey during an interview:
“Not exactly transitioning to a male, but basically my soul is like male… But I’m not going to go through that stage where I’m going to change everything├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥not change my body. I would change, like, this look: Cut my hair and wear boy clothes and everything, but that’s all.”
The 25-year-old first gained recognition for performing covers of songs such as I Will Always Love You and My Heart Will Go On. In 2010, Jake became the first Asian solo singer to have a top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart.
Winfrey famously dubbed Zyrus “the most talented girl in the world.”
We are so proud of Jake, and we look forward to what the future holds!
