Former 'Bachelor' Chris Soules Details 'Guilt' In First Interview About 2017 Fatal Car Crash

Chris Soules opens up about 2017 fatal car crash in first interview.

Chris Soules gives his first interview about his April 2017 arrest.

Last month, the former Bachelor agreed to a two-year suspended sentence for fleeing the scene of fatal car crash, resulting in the death of 66-year-old Kenny Mosher — who was killed after his tractor was rear-ended by a truck driven by Soules.

Though the reality TV personality was initially charged with a felony (fleeing the scene of a deadly accident), he eventually entered a guilty plea last year to one count of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident — an aggravated misdemeanor.

On Wednesday, People published a piece where the now-37-year-old opens up about his involvement in the wreck.

He remarked:

“The trauma of being involved in [the accident] is something I cannot describe… I think about it every day.”

The Bachelorette alum added:

“There is not a day that goes by that I don’t wish I could have done more or change the outcome of what happened… My outlook on life has changed forever.”

In regards to April 24, 2017, Soules remembers it began as any normal day, where he worked on his farm and planned to pick up an employee from one of his family’s properties.

Then…

“The next thing you know, I’m coming to inside my pickup… I heard a voice [of a man who had witnessed the accident] saying, ‘Call 911.'”

While on the phone with 911, Chris walked over to an unconscious Mosher, and performed CPR — per the dispatcher’s instructions.

“I was giving chest compressions and continued to do CPR until eventually I spat out [Mosher’s] blood… He coughed up blood in my mouth. At that point I thought it didn’t seem to be doing a lot of good. I was scared. And I remember thinking he might not make it.”

When the paramedics arrived, Soules remembered “praying [that he would be okay].” (The crash victim was later taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.)

At this moment, Chris got into another truck — driven to the scene by one of his staff — and drove himself home.

“I was out of my mind… I felt like I did everything in my power when I was there and I didn’t know what else to do. I didn’t know what happened. I didn’t know anything. I just knew it was really bad and I was scared.”

After talking to his parents on the way to his residence, Soules contacted an attorney who told him not to talk to authorities until the lawyer was present.

“I just followed his instructions… And I wasn’t expecting police at my door. In hindsight, I was charged with a crime. But I really didn’t know that there were grounds for arrest at that point.”

However, Chris was later arrested — the start of a lengthy, two-and-a-half year legal battle.

In the interview, the former ABC lead also dispelled some reports about the fiasco.

While addressing allegations saying he purchased beer before the incident and had partially consumed containers of alcohol in the vehicle, Chris explained he frequently purchases food and drink for his workers, adding the truck was used by any and all of his 15-plus employees.

Despite this, Soules — who must wear a 24-hour ankle monitoring bracelet and adhere to an 11 p.m. curfew — still remembers the emotional turmoil of the ordeal, divulging:

“I saw some dark times… I’m in the middle of nowhere as it is and I was even deeper in the isolation and the guilt. I thought many times that it would have been easier on the other side.”

However, he wishes to move on with his life — and to hopefully forge a relationship with Mosher’s family.

“I’ll live with [what happened] forever… But I will carry on, and as a result of the tragedy, do something bigger and better with my life.”

We sure hope so.
