Six months after Christina Grimmie was fatally shot outside oher concert in Orlando, Florida, her family has decided to file a wrongful death lawsuit.
On Tuesday, the Grimmie family also claims negligent infliction of emotional distress from their daughter’s death in the papers filed against AEG Live.

Additionally, the 22-year-old’s mother, father, and brother name The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra Plaza Foundation, which owns the Plaza Live where Christina was performing that night, and the security company working in the lawsuit.
The family claims they:
“Failed to take adequate security measures to ensure the safety of the performers and the attendees at the concert venue.”
According to Billboard, the lawsuit states the “superficial bag checks” allowed Christina’s killer Kevin Loibl to enter the venue with two handguns, two full magazines, and a knife.
The Grimmies are seeking a recovery of future support their daughter would have provided to them, her projected income after taxes had she lived to normal life expectancy, and all medical and funeral expenses paid. That’s on top of the singer’s parents, Albert and Tina, requesting damages for their mental pain and suffering and her brother Marcus‘ request for compensation for the physical and emotional trauma her death caused.
Christina’s family has requested a jury trial.
