Congrats to Colin Kaepernick, who was just named the new face of Nike‘s Just Do It campaign!
The former NFL quarterback — who, despite being objectively better than literally several dozen first-, second-, and third-string QBs that have seen time in the league over the last few years, has not-so-mysteriously remained unsigned — was of course one of the first high-profile people to take a knee during the National Anthem to shed light on racial injustice in America.

Now, Nike is honoring the sacrifice he ended up making — i.e., the effective end of his football career — for what he believes in by releasing their new, powerful campaign.
Ch-ch-check it out (below):
Amazing!!!
Powerful, simple, and perfectly suited for Kaepernick and the National Anthem controversies in general. Tasteful and very well done!!
Only… some crazy right-wingers don’t think so!
People who have been against Kaepernick from the start — mostly because they have never understood why he chose to kneel, erroneously assuming he was disrespecting the flag or the anthem by doing so — were out in full force Monday when the campaign was announced.

Using the #NikeBoycott hashtag on Twitter, conservatives tried to make their case that they were going to stop buying Nike stuff to protest this decision, with some going as far as saying they would cut or burn their current merchandise.
Except… the hashtag quickly got overrun by actual, sensible people making good points about Kaepernick’s thought-out political stances and more.

Anyone participating in the #NikeBoycott, specifically ignorant white folks who think a boycott and the burning of merchandise will have any effect on Nike’s sales, clearly underestimates the power of the Black Person’s dollar.
Don’t @ me. I don’t wanna fucking hear it.

People will throw away/burn shoes & clothes before even considering donating them to the veterans they claim to care so much about. #NikeBoycott #MAGA?

I'm sure the #NikeBoycott will have zero impact on those fine folks but instead of cutting up or burning your gear, consider boxing/bagging it up and donating it to a Goodwill or shelter, it slightly lessens the stupidity of destroying your own property! Thx!

If you are currently cutting up your clothes in an effort to boycott Nike for throwing support behind a black athlete who wants fairness, equality, and justice for all… you might be a racist. #NikeBoycott

Starbucks
Star Wars
Hamilton ????
Hawaii
Keurig…and now, #NikeBoycott?
If you morons cared as much about Veterans as you pretend to, why not DONATE those Nikes to needy Vets instead of destroying them?
Y'all just like burning stuff, don't you?#JustDoIt pic.twitter.com/DJhagmXc2E

I guess conservatives are done trashing a POW during his funeral and are now back to pretending it's black people who are the unpatriotic ones. #NikeBoycott

Here's an idea. If you think America's veterans deserve more respect, why not donate your clothes to a veterans' charity instead of cutting them up with scissors like a dumb, spiteful little brat? #NikeBoycott

Let me get this straight?
So an athlete protests police brutality & racism. Not a fake issue, a real & persistent problem.
Major brand supports the athlete
Now some call for #NikeBoycott ???So they are SIDING with RACISM and police brutality?
