Another influencer has been senselessly murdered.
Maria Jose Estupiñan was shot dead in Cúcuta on Thursday, according to Magda Victoria Acosta, the president of the National Gender Commission of the Colombian Judiciary. She was just 22 years old… During a news conference discussing the young Colombian’s death, Acosta revealed a man disguised as a delivery person knocked on her door and shot her when she answered. WTF. Acosta explained:
“She was a young, enterprising woman with a whole life ahead of her, but those dreams are cut short like the dreams of many women in this country.”
So, so awful.

According to security footage obtained by NDTV, a man can apparently be seen fleeing the scene as Maria’s screams are heard. Terrifying. The university student reportedly died later that day in a hospital.
Colonel Leonardo Capacho, commander of District One of the Cúcuta Metropolitan Police revealed in a statement to Noticias Caracol:
“We are verifying. The Judicial Police has already begun carrying out the necessary activities to identify and determine the whereabouts of the person who shot this young woman.”
What a horrible situation… And all the more shocking as the death came just two days after beauty influencer Valeria Marquez was shot dead in Mexico while on a TikTok livestream. According to authorities, that killing has been attributed to femicide: the intentional violence against or murder of women based on gender. Maria’s death investigation has just begun.
What a senseless and horrifying wave of violence… Our hearts are with Estupiñan’s loved ones during this awful time. Rest in peace.
