Jane Bright, a fan favorite from the 21st season of Survivor, has passed away.
The reality TV personality’s daughter, Ashley Hammett, took to Facebook to announce the sad news. She wrote in a post on Thursday:
“Today Jane Hammett Bright was found passed away within her home by a good friend and county sheriff.”
So sad. She was 71 years old.
Jane was a contestant on Survivor: Nicaragua back in 2010 at the age of 56, where she ultimately came in sixth place. Despite not winning the competition show, she did win the fan favorite vote, which put $100,000 in her pocket at the end of the season.
Her castmates as well as fans of her took to social media to express their condolences. NaOnka Mixon, who was a member of her tribe during season 21, wrote on Instagram Stories:
“People don’t understand that although Survivor is a game, you make life long connections on the Island and you get to really know your castmates. Losing 2 castmates make things a little too real right now! Espada for life.”
Donathan Hurley, who was a survivor on season 36 of the series, wrote on X (Twitter):
“Lord, I sure did get my heart broken when I opened up Facebook after work! One of my favorite Survivor family members, as I call them all, has passed away. I loved Jane so much!!! This lady was a firecracker! Always ready to have a good time and a good laugh! RIP Jane.”
