Courteney Cox Calls Fillers Her Biggest Beauty Regret

Courteney Cox is opening up once again about her regrets about getting work done.

The Scream 6 star has long been considered one of the most beautiful women ever to grace the screen. But a few years ago she made a mistake. She was worried about getting older, about looking older. And in an effort to conform to Hollywood beauty standards, she had some work done.

Specifically, she got facial fillers — injections of chemical compounds that puff out specific areas of your face to remove wrinkles. Speaking about how she found herself in the world of El Lay knifestyles, she told the Gloss Angeles podcast this week:

“Thinking I was getting older when I was really young, that’s just a bummer, a waste of time. It’s a domino effect, it’s like you don’t realize that you look a little off, so then you keep doing more ’cause you look normal to yourself. You look in the mirror and go, ‘Oh, that looks good,’ and you don’t realize what it looks like to the outside.”

She finally had the realization she didn’t look younger, just… wrong. She told podcast hosts Kirbie Johnson and Sara Tan Christensen she had to admit she had gone way overboard on the fillers:

“I look at pictures of me from when I thought I looked okay, and I can’t believe it.”

In 2017 she had most of the fillers — which she said she considers her biggest beauty regret — taken out:

“Thank god they are removable. I think I messed up a lot and now, luckily, I was able to reverse most of that. Now, I’m actually just older.”

We love how frank and honest the Friends alum is being about all this. Last year, she told The Sunday Times about how she messed with her iconic looks as she tried to chase youth:

“I didn’t realize that, ‘Oh s**t, I’m actually looking really strange’ with injections and doing stuff to my face that I would never do now.”

Obviously it’s not our place to tell anyone what’s right for them. Do whatever feels right for you. But we do hope more people who are worried about looking older will listen to Courteney’s warnings. She spent a lot of money to put in the fillers and probably more to very carefully remove them. And in the end she realized she would have been happier — and more beautiful — just aging naturally.
