Dad Goes Viral For SEVERE Reaction To Losing His Daughter's Hamster! Read Their Funny Exchange!

A college student’s hamster went on the adventure of a lifetime while she was away at school, giving the 19-year-old’s dad the anxiety attack of a lifetime in the process!

Stephanie Veerman took to Twitter to share the dramatic tale, explaining how her single father Daniel grew “really attached” to her pet after she left for college. So, when little Chester went missing on Sunday while the Massachusetts-based litigator was cleaning the cage, it was quite a mess.

Speaking to TODAY Parents, Daniel recalled:

“I put Chester in this ball he likes to roll around in, and when I came back, he was gone. He’d somehow opened the top of the ball.”

What followed was a lengthy mission to find the missing cutie. As Daniel crawled around the house on all fours with a flashlight, all he could think about was: how he was going to break the news to his daughter?

He explained to the outlet:

“I’m an empty-nester now. I don’t have a lot to take care of, and I almost screwed up the one thing I have.”

Fortunately, Stephanie didn’t blame her father for the mishap, and remained collected throughout her hilarious, now-viral text exchange with Daniel, who called Chester’s escape an “emergency” and his “biggest screwup ever.” See (below):

During their back and forth, which the teen posted on social media to “prove how truly pure my father is,” the lawyer wrote:

“If I can’t find him today, I’m not going to work tomorrow so I can keep looking.”

To which his daughter responded:

“Dad — he’s a hamster. I don’t blame you at ALL. You shouldn’t skip work. You are a lawyer and he is a hamster.”

But Daniel was determined to catch the little escape artist since ALL pets are members of the family, no matter how small! As he explained to his daughter, he would “never” forgive himself if the hamster remained lost: so he stepped up his game, sprinkling flour on the floor to track Chester’s footsteps.

He explained to TODAY:

“I googled ‘How to find a hamster’ and some dude said to put flour down to see if he’s been in the area. I also set food traps and rubbed peanut butter, his favorite food, all over my office.”

Smart!

Thankfully, 12 grueling hours later, Daniel found Chester hiding behind a book about Richard Nixon.

Steph, for her part, updated anxious readers, noting that Chester was safe, sound, and more than “just a hamster”:
