What’s Dakota Johnson up to now that she’s on the other side of her ill-fated relationship with rocker Chris Martin? She’s figuring out what life is supposed to be about!
As we’ve been reporting, the Materialists star and the Coldplay crooner split up for good about three weeks ago after being together (well, more or less together…) for nearly a decade. But now, to hear an insider tell it, the 35-year-old actress is doing as well as can be expected at this point after things didn’t work out. Which is good!

Per a source who spoke about it to People on Monday, Dakota is “doing well” after splitting from her rock star beau. For one, the confidant mentioned how it’s not like the A-lister got blindsided by the breakup:
“Dakota’s doing well. The split wasn’t exactly a shock.”
Regarding that last comment, the source summed it up like this regarding the schism between DJ and the 48-year-old musician:
“[They] had the same issues for a while.”
That’s definitely something we’ve heard before. Several recurring problems that just never got fixed no matter how many times they broke up and got back together. So, sadly, it tracks.
But wait — there’s more! The insider also said Johnson is trying to go through the rest of her life with no stone unturned as far as regrets go:
“She wants to live her life very intentionally. She doesn’t want to have any regrets.”
Specifically, that means career achievements up ahead for the film star, including her next movie Splitsville, which will be coming out in August. (It’s about couples trying an open relationship! Sound familiar?)
But it ALSO means more important stuff far away from the silver screen, too:
“She loves all her creative projects and is excited about her career. She believes there is more to life than work though. She wants a meaningful life on all levels.”
…Hold up!
“A meaningful live on all levels,” you say?? Might that possibly include a family and children of her own??? Hm. Yes, it might.

We say it might because all that baby blabber was reportedly one of the biggest wedges that drove her and Chris apart. AKA, she wanted ’em and he didn’t! At least, he didn’t want any more of ’em beyond the two kids — daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19 — he shares with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
Clearly, there are many things going on here. A nearly decade-long relationship doesn’t usually end without a lot of factors and variables at play. So, this must be difficult on many levels.
We’re just heartened to hear Dakota is “doing well” through it all. Sending love and light!
