A casting notice went out this week for dancers, age 15-25, to star in the new Michael Jackson video for his new single Hold My Hand. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime for any young performer, for sure, but it seems the producers of the music video are being rather selective.
According to sources, the casting notice specifically states that no dancers from “Dancer’s Alliance” will be considered for hire. They offer no reason and no one from the music video is talking, but the group’s leaders are outraged.
Dancer’s Alliance reps say that cutting out D.A. dancers “suggests that the production is discriminating against dancers who are educated and support both their community and their agents.”
Sure does, but why in the world would they do that? We would think they would want professional performers who are on the up-and-up.
Very strange.
