Netflix has given Danny Masterson the boot.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that the That ’70s Show alum has been fired from the streaming service’s comedy The Ranch following multiple allegations of rape.

In a recent statement, Netflix explained:

“As a result of ongoing discussions, Netflix and the producers have written Danny Masterson out of The Ranch. [Monday] was his last day on the show, and production will resume in early 2018 without him.”

Took them long enough. As we previously reported, Netflix was dragging their feet to oust the seasoned actor as higher ups at the company reportedly didn’t “believe” the four women who’ve spoken out against Masterson. This was incredibly ironic since the streaming service moved ULTRA fast in firing Kevin Spacey for his respective sexual misconduct scandal.
It’s said that Danny will still appear in the second half of season two, which is due to drop on December 15. Oh, and Masterson could very likely return for parts of The Ranch‘s upcoming third season. Currently, it’s unclear if another actor will be brought in to fill the void Masterson’s firing has left behind.
Ironically, this isn’t the first time showrunners Don Reo and Jim Patterson have had to write someone out of a show. The twosome previously transitioned in Ashton Kutcher (who also leads The Ranch) after Charlie Sheen‘s termination from Two And A Half Men.
We’re definitely curious to see how this whole thing plays out. Be sure to stay tuned for any and all updates!!
