On Tuesday police in Blackpool, England posted a security camera photo of a robbery suspect asking if anyone recognized the man.
The people of Facebook were there for the police when the rain started to fall — but not exactly in a helpful way.
See, the man looks shockingly like Friends star David Schwimmer! And fans just could not resist!

OMG! He is a dead ringer for Ross!
HIGHlarious comments on the FB post included:
“I don’t think it’s been this guy’s day, his week, his month or even his year”
“Lay off him. He grew up with Monica. IF YOU DIDNT EAT FAST YOU DIDNT EAT”
“I was going to read the report for this but it was 18 pages… FRONT AND BACK! It rambled on for so long that I fell aslEEP”
“Shoplifting…It’s NOT that common. It DOESN’T happen to every guy, and it IS A BIG DEAL !!!”
“That’s clearly not Ross. They’re as different as night and… later that night.”
“Guys this is serious…it was a robbery based on giving and receiving as well as having and sharing. And the stolen items that they give and have is shared and received. And through this having and giving and sharing and receiving, we too can share and love and have… and receive.”
The Blackpool Police even responded to the many calls, some of which were apparently made in earnest, saying:
“Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We’re so sorry it has to be this way.”
LOLz!
Then the news spread worldwide, and Twitter got involved:

Is it wrong to hope that David Schwimmer was drinking last night and woke up all hungover like "ugh, what did I do last night" to see his phone blown up by this? https://t.co/4FG3ljmpwr

Finally it got back to the man himself who had a message directly for the U.K. police:
