David and Victoria Beckham aren’t used to not having control, and that’s weighing heavily into their feud with their eldest son Brooklyn!
The 26-year-old has been on the outs with his family since skipping his father’s 50th birthday party in London earlier this month, reportedly because he didn’t want to mingle with his ex-girlfriend Kim Turnbull, who is now dating his brother Romeo. But sources have also claimed his wife Nicola Peltz is a major part of the problem — and it sounds like her family might be too!

Sources told Us Weekly on Thursday that there’s more to this story, and it goes back to a classic power imbalance. Apparently, David and Victoria “feel betrayed” about the rift after they were left feeling like the young couple’s absence at the b-day party was a major “blow.”
Despite the hot sauce aficionado returning to London last weekend, his parents made no attempts to reach out — and they haven’t since the party! The insider dished:
“Victoria and David haven’t called, texted or messaged Brooklyn directly since the birthday party.”
So, those social media posts really were just damage control!
But if they’re so upset over this rift, why aren’t they doing anything to resolve it? Well, it sounds like they’re butthurt over no longer being the most powerful in the fam, and they’re holding a big grudge about it!
The confidant explained the root cause of this rift is “very deep tension rooted in control and different plans for Brooklyn’s future.” The source elaborated:
“Nicola comes from a powerful family. David and Victoria are used to being in control [of situations like this] and there has been a shift.”
Remember, Brooklyn’s ex-girlfriend Lexi Wood said that famous families, including the Beckhams, are used to giving “each other advice” and working “with each other where they can.” It’s what keeps them “so close” — they do EVERYTHING together, she explained:
“That mindset is your family has your back, period.”
But now Brooklyn is an adult who can make decisions about his life for himself — and he has a new set of highly successful adults in his life who he can turn to for advice in the same ways he used to solely rely on his parents for. That, it seems, is the big issue!
If you don’t know, Nicole’s dad is Nelson Peltz, a billionaire American businessman known for co-founding the hedge fund management firm Trian Partners. His wife is Claudia Heffner, a former model. They’re a big deal — and far more rich than the soccer star and former Spice Girls star. That gives them a lot of sway in the industry, so no wonder Brooklyn might want their tips and tricks as he launches new business endeavors!
Not to mention, the number one woman in his life — whose advice he is surely taking as most important now — is his wife! Mommy and Daddy aren’t as high up on the ladder anymore, which is totally natural but clearly unusual for the Beckhams!
A second insider claimed the family friction is also caused by the fact Brooklyn is just now being exposed to what “a healthy relationship” looks like. Dang! The confidant shared:
“Nicola and Brooklyn are incredibly happy together, dedicated to building a marriage based on unconditional love, caring, support and family. It seems this exposure to a healthy relationship has made Brooklyn question his own family and upbringing.”
Jeez. Are they implying David and Victoria still don’t have a healthy dynamic — even after working through issues in their past?? Hmm.
The insider went on to claim that Brooklyn’s refusal to attend the birthday festivities alongside Romeo and Kim wasn’t the start of the feud but his last straw:
“After recent years of attempting to set boundaries with his family and encourage honest and positive change in their relationship to no avail, he’s become discouraged and disheartened.”
And while the Lola alum has “tried to have a close and positive relationship with David and Victoria” — despite a rumored rift around the 2022 wedding — these latest developments have forced her attempts to “come to an end.” She’s there for her hubby in whatever way he needs moving forward, the source expressed:
“Nicola and Brooklyn have a mutual desire for Brooklyn to explore his interests and grow as a person. That is what is causing the family rift.”
Whoa. You’d think Victoria and David would also want whatever is best for Brooklyn but apparently not! Now, those in the Beckham’s inner circle fear this feud could go on for a long time. The first source concluded:
“Friends and people around them see a long road to mending this. But there is a desire to mend on David and Victoria’s part.”
And yet they don’t seem to be willing to take the first step. Sad! Just think of what these two families could do if they just came together and combined all their wealth, fame, and influence together rather than fighting over petty things! Such a shame!
