When first sharing the tragic news of his passing, Miz Lovato penned a note (below) along with a photo of her late friend:

Shortly after, she uploaded a second post (below):

It is unclear how the two came to be friends, but Demi has been open about her own struggles with addiction in the past. On July 24, 2018, the Sorry Not Sorry singer was found unconscious in her El Lay home after an apparent overdose. She was hospitalized for two weeks and later entered an in-patient rehab facility.

The following month, the performer broke her social media silence, sharing with her followers (below):

“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet,. I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”

R.I.P. to her dear friend.
