His little sis’ Halloween costume has had everyone talking this week ,but definitely NOT in a good way!
Now Derek Hough is defending his Dancing With The Stars sibling Julianne Hough, following her blackface backlash!
Big bro says Julianne is mortified over her decision to darken herself up in order to resemble the character Crazy Eyes from the hit series Orange Is The New Black. He explained:
“She’s so apologetic. She’s so, so sorry and I just hope that we can all forgive her and move on.”
Julianne publicly apologized on Twitter this weekend for her costume, saying that she’s just a huge fan of the show.
Well sure, who doesn’t love OITNB!? But still, you gotta know that blackface is a HUGE no-no, girl!
Derek wants fans to realize that Julianne never meant to offend anyone, saying:
“She’s my little baby sister and she’s the sweetest thing ever. She is just beyond beside herself. Obviously, it wasn’t her brightest moment in her life.”
Nope, definitely not her brightest moment. We’d say it was a pretty dark moment, actually.
But it’s safe to say that Ms. Hough has learned her lesson. Next Halloween, just go as Piper Chapman. No face paint needed to pull that look off, Julianne!
