Devon Sawa Shares SUPER CREEPY Letter From A Fan Upset By John Travolta Movie

If you thought the Metacritic score for The Fanatic was scary, just wait until you see what Devon Sawa is going through IRL!

For those who haven’t heard of the critically panned film directed by Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, which has already begun to achieve cult status due to its pure insanity, the whole thing turns on a wildly miscalculated and truly bizarre turn by John Travolta as a vaguely mentally handicapped fan who devolves into a murderous stalker. It’s either deeply disturbing or totally hilarious, depending on whom you ask.

Devon is solid as usual as the movie star who becomes the object of Moose’s obsession (yes, the character John Travolta plays is named Moose).

However, while the Idle Hands star was probably never personally in danger of even a Razzie nomination, he’s now facing a different kind of scare: a real-life stalker emulating the film!

On Thursday, the former teen heartthrob took to Twitter to share a letter he received from someone to whom The Fanatic spoke directly.

In block lettering on what appears to be a Christmas card, the fan writes:

“To Devon Sawa,

I’m writing to tell you that I did not like your character of Hunter Dunbar in The Fanatic. You were terribly mean to poor “Moose” (John Travolta). You could have became friends with him in the end. You did “sick” things to him and his cries for help were so sad.”

Ordinarily we hate to spoil movies, but if you really know what the heck the letter writer is talking about…

[MINOR SPOILER ALERT]

After being abducted and imprisoned by Travolta’s character, eventually Devon’s character escapes and ends up violently fighting back.

So clearly this viewer is upset about how his film character treated his cinematic stalker. That’s a little absurd, sure, but the next part is the heart-stopper:

“I’m writing this so that you also know; your address is public info!”

WHAT IN THE EFF??

That could definitely be considered a threat, and we hope he contacted the police!

The letter continues:

“I should hope you aren’t your character in real life. That’s why I’m going to request an autographed photo from you. If I don’t hear back from you – then I will know you are the same mean “Hunter” in real life. Therefore, do not take this personally, and also I’m NOT a stalker!”

Well, that’s reassuring. After all, being a stalker is like being a cop, they totally have to tell you.

The letter finishes:

“Never been to your fancy, rich enclave. Probably never will. I will appreciate your utmost concern and cooperation as I look forward to hearing from you.”

See the evidence for yourself (below):

Yeah, that is scarier than anything in Final Destination.

Devon, who famously played Eminem‘s stalker in the Stan video, couldn’t help but reference the role, commenting on the letter:

“Dear Dev, I wrote you but you still ain’t calling….”

Ha! So glad he has a sense of humor about this, because if it was us we don’t know if we’d be able to take it in such stride!
