John Travolta just wants to make the world LOL!
As we reported, the actor went viral this week after he seemingly mistook drag queen Jade Jolie for Taylor Swift at the 2019 MTV VMAs.
The incident went down after the Lover songstress won the award for Video of the Year for her powerful anthem You Need To Calm Down. When Tay and her LGBT squad stormed the stage to accept the award, Travolta appeared to attempt to hand the Moon Man over to Jolie, who was glammed out in T.Swift-themed drag.

Viewers couldn’t get enough of the funny moment, which many felt rivaled the Grease star’s Adele Dazeem fiasco at the Oscars a few years back.
Well, the actor is finally addressing the incident — and while he too is LOLing about it, he wants everyone to know they misinterpreted what really happened!
In a new radio interview with Dallas’ Hot 93.3, the 65-year-old insists he did NOT mistake Tay for her drag doppelgänger, despite how it looked on camera. He explains:
“There were so many people that bombarded the stage, that I was looking for her. So the video has me trying to find her… I thought it was so funny the way it was interpreted.”
So he’s saying we imagined the whole thing??
Maybe Travolta’s history with live award shows shaped how we saw this one unfold? Then again, he could just be trying to save face.
It did look like he was trying to find Taylor — then it looked like he thought he found her! LOLz!
According to Todrick Hall, who was also on stage at he time, Travolta “was so confident” Jade was actually Tay. The choreographer explained to Jerry O’Connell on the Jerry O’ Show Wednesday morning:
“I loved it, I saw it and we talked about it backstage. Taylor thought it was hilarious. Jade Jolie has made quite the living performing at Play nightclub and she is a fantastic drag queen. Everybody knows that she is the Taylor Swift doppelgänger, so I think that was the highest compliment he could pay her.”
For his part, John said he’s largely unbothered by the alleged non-blunder.
In fact, he wishes he went “all the way” with the apparently non-existent gag, adding:
“I sometimes fantasize, ‘What if I had given it to [Jade]?’ Wouldn’t that have been awesome? Like, I should’ve just went all the way with it.”
There’s always next year!
And the Oscars…
John went on to say he’s “always had a sense of humor” about his headline-making antics because it distracts the public from the sad news they digest on the reg.
Basically, John Travolta is a hero and we should thank him for being so valiantly weird at award shows! Actually that sounds about right…
