The “It Girl” of the screenwriting world, Diablo Cody, is taking a new turn in her work!
The Juno and Jennifer’s Body writer has negotiated a deal to buy the rights to Francine Pascal’s Sweet Valley High series!!!
We don’t know about you, but we love this idea!
In case you were more of a Baby-Sitters Club fan in the 80’s and 90’s, the story of Sweet Valley High centers around two sisters – Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield – who live in the fictional Sweet Valley, CA.
Jessica is the boy-crazy, snobbish cheerleader of the two, while Elizabeth is an intellectual go-getter.
Cody, who’s an avid fan of the SVH books, will be adapting the series for Universal, which was decided after an all-out bidding war went down for Diablo’s film adaptation, including offers from Fox and Mandate Pictures.
