We think this is a little dark for an animated classic, so hopefully the Mouse steers clear of it.
Disney has recently acquired film rights to The Diary of Anne Frank. The new version is slated to be written and directed by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet. David, who is already writing the script, will be looking at the original diary along with the Broadway play in order to bring “his own original take on the material that could re-frame the story as a young girl├óΓé¼Γäós rite of passage.”
So, we guess they won’t be discussing the part where she dies in an internment camp?
We think an exceptional rendition of Anne Frank’s story is definitely needed, we’re just not sure Disney is the one to handle it.
What do U think?
