Controversy Has Surrounded Disney's Live Action Snow White -- But Does The Trailer Deliver?

The main trailer for Disney’s live action Snow White movie is here!

On Tuesday, the House of Mouse dropped the full trailer for their once highly anticipated — and now highly controversial — reimagining of the classic 1937 cartoon. It hits all the same story beats we’ve all come to know — Snow White, played by Rachel Zegler, escapes from her stepmother AKA the Evil Queen, played by Gal Gadot, and finds company in the Seven Dwarfs. Who actually are dwarfs, just like the cartoon. We even get a brand new song! You can ch-ch-check it out (below):

Controversy has surrounded the film for YEARS. Dating back to when Rachel was cast in 2021, trolls were up in arms over a Latina actress being cast in the role of a character classically described as having skin “as white as snow.” The same old racist BS.

On top of all that, Rachel then faced criticism for her comments surrounding the original 1937 film, and her commitment to differentiating her take on the character.

But Gal Gadot was cast as the Evil Queen shortly after, and many fans took issue with Disney working with an actress who was so gung ho about the Israeli government. That position has gotten even more precarious since…

But things REALLY amped up after Peter Dinklage BLASTED the live action remake as a “backward story” and an insult to little people. Soon after, Disney responded with the following statement:

“To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community.”

Then they cast Dinklage and… six average sized actors. It seemed the Game of Thrones star had only succeeded in taking the jobs from six other dwarf actors. Pulling the ladder up behind him, as it were.

The new “seven dwarfs” were a multicultural cast of… tbh we don’t know what they were going for. Because Disney purists were annoyed it wasn’t dwarfs, dwarfs were annoyed it wasn’t dwarfs, racists were annoyed they weren’t white… Disney had managed to piss off everyone in one decision. They went back to the drawing board and…

And voilà, we now have these full CGI renderings which are… Something!

So the question is: does the trailer sell you? We’ll just have to see how things fair on March 21, 2025! Will YOU be in the theater??
