Disney Disaster! Studio So Embarrassed By Snow White They Pulled THIS Rare Move!

Disney Snow White Premiere No Press Gal Gadot Rachel Zegler Peter Dinklage

Whoa! Disney is throwing up red flags in the shape of mouse ears on this one!

The company has certainly had their share of flops recently… but we can’t remember the last time they telegraphed such a lack of confidence in a movie or its cast as with this move for Snow White!

The big Hollywood premiere is scheduled for Saturday, March 15. Stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot will be there, we’ll see red carpet pics outside the El Capitan on Hollywood Boulevard…

BUT ABSOLUTELY NO PRESS!

Um… what??

Yep, Disney routinely invites various media outlets to their premieres, like most studios. Reporters ask actors questions on the red carpet — like what drew them to the role, what’s next, what are their four favorite movies. Mostly fluff. Occasionally you get a gem in there. But for this one? Nope! Variety reports they are limiting coverage to “photographers and a house crew.” Geez. Why would they do that?

There’s two big reasons we can think of. They’re worried what the actors would say about the movie… or they’re worried what the actors would say about other things…

Peter Pulls Up The Ladder

The upcoming live action remake has been controversial from the start, with Peter Dinklage BLASTING the endeavor as Disney remaking a “backward story” that would be an insult to little people. Disney responded with the following statement:

“To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community.”

Except then they cast Dinklage in the movie — and seemingly six actors of average height. “Members of the dwarfism community” were NOT on the Game of Thrones star’s side — as many saw it as a big star eliminating jobs six other dwarf actors. maybe star-making roles, something others needed more than him!

Then the teaser for the movie came out, and there WERE dwarfs! Just not dwarf actors! Instead it was CGI!

Yeah, congratulations! Worst of all possible worlds! So maybe they could be worried about what Dinklage might say?

Gal’s Gall

But we imagine they’d be more concerned about Gal Gadot…

The Justice League star has become one of the most disliked movie stars in the past few years. First, there was that hugely embarrassing Imagine video she released during the height of the pandemic. That’s what really kicked it off. She was seen as wildly out of touch with anything remotely real after that.

But more recently the former IDF solider has come out strongly in favor of the policies of the Israeli government… the actions Amnesty International has condemned as genocide. Imagine if they asked her about that on the red carpet! Or if there was a protest, and the media was there to see it!

The Zegler Of It All

Gadot’s views put her squarely at odds with her co-star, who has been outspoken in defending Palestine. Those views will naturally put her at odds with a portion of the audience. And we’re sure Disney wouldn’t be happy about her saying anything about it on the carpet.

But really, Rachel Zegler has been outspoken about everything

Racists were already upset she was cast. Then she spoke out against Trump and those who voted for him. Fair, obviously… though Disney has historically been pretty cowardly when it comes to politics, even when it’s something as black and white as fighting for gay rights. When it comes down to it, they tend to choose money. Like with all the LGBT stuff reportedly being cut out of Inside Out 2. Or what happened to the Lizzie McGuire reboot. Ultimately they couldn’t risk upsetting the bigots, whose money spends just as well as progressive bucks. Ugh.

But Rachel has upset more than just right wingers. She also bothered Disney’s most hardcore fans with her criticism of the original 1937 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Immediately they thought she’d ruin things they loved. Bigots worried she’d “wokify” it. Or if it wasn’t woke enough, she’d trash it!

Rotten Tomatoes

Then of course there’s the possibility the movie is really just… bad! We mean, people trashed the trailer when it came out. That’s somewhat been dismissed as review-bombing against Zegler, but… There’s an awful lot of criticism that doesn’t mention “wokeness” or “DEI” or anything about her.

Add to that the fact there haven’t been reviews out yet. We saw a report there’s an embargo until two days before the release, though we have not been able to confirm that. We do know we haven’t even seen social media takes from critics yet, and the later those are allowed to go out, the worse you can expect them to be.

Maybe Disney just figures the movie is REALLY bad?? And they’re worried their cast will give away that fact in their red carpet interviews? We mean, usually studios don’t have to worry about that type of thing, but with the media training — or obstinance? — of these stars, who knows?

We don’t know what Disney is so scared of. Any or all of the above? But with a move like this, they definitely seem apprehensive about SOMETHING!

What do YOU think, Perezcious cinephiles??
