EXCLUSIVE! Make Your Own Striped Clutch With Penny Chic's Shauna Miller & YouTube Star Maddi Bragg! Paint Party!

This might just be one of the most fun DIY tutorials we’ve had yet!
And if you love purses, paint, and summer, this one is definitely the perfect tutorial for you!
Penny Chic‘s Shauna Miller and popular YouTube beauty guru Maddi Bragg have teamed up to show you how to take a boring old clutch and turn it into something chic and expensive-looking just in time for hot nights on the town!

But really it doesn’t just have to be a summer accessory — if you simply modify the colors it can work for any season and any occasion!
And it’s so easy to do!
All you need is an old or new solid-colored clutch (an old makeup bag would also work!), painter’s tape, a washable crayon for drawing lines, acrylic paint in at least two or three colors, and some paintbrushes.
Check out the video (above) and/or follow our step-by-step GIF tutorial (below)!

Step 1. Take your solid-colored clutch and lay it flat on a sturdy surface, like a table. Then rip off a strip of painter’s tape and proceed to apply it onto the clutch where you would like your painted stripes to be.
TIP: You might wanna cover up your workspace with newspapers to prevent acrylic paint from getting on the table.

Step 2. Once you’ve applied all three strips of tape, take your washable crayon and draw lines along the perimeter. Once you’ve drawn the lines, remove the tape and apply it OUTSIDE the lines you’ve just drawn to make sure that your lines are straight when you start painting.

Step 3. With your paintbrush, fill in the blank spaces between the reapplied tape with your chosen color. Don’t worry if you get paint on the tape itself, as it will allow for any gaps to be filled in.

TIP: Choose vibrant colors for the outside lines and something more contrasting (like a glittering gold or silver) for the center strip.

Step 4: Wait for the paint to dry, or use a blow-dryer to speed up the drying process. Once you’re sure the paint is set, slowly remove the tape.
TIP: The removal of the tape also happens to be rather therapeutic!
